 about

I am an artist living in Carshalton, Surrey, UK.

Much of my work takes inspiration from my love of the British coast and landscape. I am especially drawn to the rugged North Cornwall coast and also the vast expanses of the sea and sky in Suffolk.

As I stand on the shore or immerse myself in the sea's depths I experience such a sense of peace and tranquility which I hope to convey in my work. For me, the images I paint are an escape from the stresses of urban living.

I paint mainly in acrylics with mixed media and I love to experiment with texture and torn paper. In some of my work, I have added subtle references using text and paper collage within the brushstrokes to recreate memories of these special places.

"My work involves the use of gesso, paper collage and acrylic paint to create texture with subtle references to the location within the brushstrokes." Anne Cady
